According to the 2025/26 Women, Peace and Security Index published by Georgetown University, Uzbekistan ranked 98th out of 181 countries. The information was reported on the university’s official website.

It was noted that the index methodology is based on 13 indicators and assesses the status of women across three key dimensions: security, justice, and participation in social life. Uzbekistan received an overall score of 0.674. With this result, the country recorded the lowest ranking among Central Asian states.

Central Asian countries ranked in the Women, Peace and Security Index as follows:

  • Kazakhstan – 72nd;
  • Turkmenistan – 74th;
  • Kyrgyzstan – 84th;
  • Tajikistan – 89th;
  • Uzbekistan – 98th.

Among Uzbekistan’s stronger indicators were access to mobile communication services and the average length of women’s education, estimated at approximately 11.8 years. The report also highlighted that women account for nearly 34 percent of seats in parliament.

According to the index, cases of intimate partner violence were estimated at around 11 percent. Financial inclusion indicators were below 40 percent, while access to legal justice was rated at 1.8 points on a four-point scale.

The report also noted that Afghanistan ranked last, at 181st place, in terms of women’s rights, security, and participation in society. Women in the country face severe restrictions on movement, education, and employment.

In the 2025/26 index, Denmark topped the ranking with a score of 0.939. Experts emphasized that the index serves as an important indicator of societal stability and peace by reflecting the status of women’s rights and safety.

It is worth noting that earlier, the United Nations reported that in 2024, around 83,000 women and girls worldwide—an average of 137 per day—were killed by their partners or close relatives.
