Members of Uzbekistan’s national taekwondo team Jahongir Khudoyberdiyev and Svetlana Osipova became medalists at the Taekwondo WT World Championships held in Wuxi, China.

On October 26, Jahongir Khudoyberdiyev competed in the -54 kg weight category and advanced to the semifinals. He lost to South Korea’s Seo Young-su and claimed the bronze medal of the World Championships.

On October 27, Svetlana Osipova, competing in the +73 kg category, reached the final but was defeated by Turkey’s Nafia Kuş, earning the silver medal. This marks Osipova’s third career medal at the World Championships—she previously won one gold and one silver at earlier editions.

It is worth noting that Svetlana Osipova also won a silver medal at the Paris Summer Olympics, where she competed in the +67 kg category and was defeated in the final by France’s Althea Laurin.
