Person caught trying to sell drugs via WhatsApp

On February 2 of this year, 1 kilogram and 23 grams of pure heroin were seized in Namangan region, the regional Department of Internal Affairs reported.

According to the report, during a joint rapid preventive operation conducted with the Customs Department, a citizen born in 1981 and residing in Buvayda district of Fergana region was apprehended. He had promised to sell the narcotic substance to an undercover buyer participating in the operation via WhatsApp for $18,500 and had already received the money.

The suspect was caught after delivering the narcotic substance, weighing 1 kilogram and 23 grams, to the agreed location.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 273, Part 5 of the Criminal Code (illegal production, acquisition, storage, or other actions with narcotic drugs, their analogues, or psychotropic substances for the purpose of distribution, as well as their illegal distribution). Preliminary investigation is currently underway at the Investigation Department of the Namangan Regional Department of Internal Affairs.

Earlier, it was reported that a total of 20.2 kilograms of narcotic substances had been confiscated in Qashqadaryo and Tashkent regions, as well as in Tashkent city.
