Earlier, it was reported that President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the heads of leading companies from Saudi Arabia. During the meeting, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Majdiah and First Avenue companies, Abdulsalam Al-Majid, announced that a neighborhood named Riyadh would be built in the New Tashkent (Yangi Toshkent) area of the capital.

“In recent years, the number of Saudi entrepreneurs interested in investing in Uzbekistan has been steadily increasing. We have also decided to invest in Uzbekistan, a country where stability prevails, with good intentions. Together with our Uzbek partners, we plan to develop the Riyadh neighborhood in New Tashkent. We will strive to justify your trust in us,” said Abdulsalam Al-Majid.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev welcomed the initiative, noting that this district would serve as a bridge uniting the two nations.

It is worth noting that construction of the first residential and infrastructure facilities in New Tashkent district began in April last year, with major facilities expected to be completed by 2045. Covering an area of 20,000 hectares, the district represents a core component of Uzbekistan’s large-scale modern urban development project.

In the future, all government institutions are expected to be relocated to New Tashkent. According to the project’s authors, this move will significantly reduce traffic congestion in the old part of the city.

It is worth noting that a St. Petersburg quarter would also be built in New Tashkent. According to the plan, the architectural design of the quarter will be developed by specialists from St. Petersburg.
