On May 15, by a decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Center for the Development of Children's Content was established under the Ministry of Preschool and School Education. Prominent film director Jahongir Akhmedov has been appointed as the director of the newly formed center. The appointment was announced by Presidential Press Secretary Sherzod Asadov.
According to official reports, the center will be responsible for analyzing harmful content in the information space that negatively affects the upbringing and health of children. It will also commission local content creators to produce national content and organize training programs in this field. The Kori Niyazi Institute will provide scientific support to the center’s activities.
However, it was emphasized during the announcement that this responsibility should not rest solely on the shoulders of the center. All relevant ministries and agencies are expected to collaborate closely with the institution.
“Indeed, today many are involved in fostering youth spirituality. However, there is still no professional organization dedicated to creating national content capable of countering harmful information, promoting positive values, and supporting creators,” the President stated.
The meeting also highlighted that more than 6 million schoolchildren and over 1 million university students will soon begin their summer vacation. In this context, the importance of organizing meaningful and productive leisure activities for youth during the holiday period was stressed.
Jahongir Akhmedov was born on February 4, 1983, in the Tashkent region. He graduated from Secondary School No. 25 and studied directing at the Uzbek State Institute of Arts and Culture from 2002 to 2008, earning both a bachelor's and a master's degrees. He currently serves as an associate professor at the same institute.
Akhmedov made his debut in the film industry in 2009 with the romantic comedy "Marriage", which was warmly received by audiences. He has since become known for his works including "Omad", "Tundan Tonggacha", "Til Qursin", "Majnun", "Islomkhoji", and "Ilhak".
In recognition of his contributions to culture and the arts, Jahongir Akhmedov was awarded the title of Honored Worker of Culture of Uzbekistan by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
