On April 3 this year, at 16:00 Astana time, Kazakhstan may launch the Soyuz-5 rocket into space. This was reported by KazTAG.
According to the report, the Soyuz-5, also known as Sunkar, launch vehicle has been moved to the launch complex at the Baikonur Cosmodrome for the first time, and preparations have begun for its maiden test flight.
This morning, March 31, the Soyuz-5 rocket, together with a mock payload, was transported by rail from the assembly and testing facility at Site 42 of the cosmodrome and installed vertically at the launch pad at Site 45. Over the next few days, cosmodrome specialists will carry out final checks of the launch complex and the rocket systems.
The Baiterek space rocket complex is a joint project between Kazakhstan and Russia aimed at creating ground-based space infrastructure at the Baikonur Cosmodrome and launching rockets that use environmentally cleaner fuel components.
The project was established in 2004 and was officially launched in 2005 during a visit to the Baikonur Cosmodrome by then-President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
It is worth noting that in March this year, it was reported that Kazakhstan and Russia would jointly launch a space rocket under the Baiterek project.
