A one-eyed baby goat has been born in Kazakhstan’s Kyzylorda region. Videos of the unusual case have been circulating on social media.
According to reports, the goat was found to have a rare congenital anomaly that is extremely uncommon in animals. The kid, born in the flock of a Kazakh shepherd, had a single centrally located eye, a condition described as cyclopia. Most notably, two pupils were observed within that single eye.
Specialists refer to this condition as cyclopia. It is a congenital pathology in which the brain and facial structures do not fully separate during embryonic development. As a result, the eye sockets merge, and instead of two separate eyes, one central eye is formed. In most cases, such abnormalities sharply reduce the animal’s chances of long-term survival.
No additional information has yet been released about the condition of the baby goat.
It is worth noting that earlier, a giant underground spider colony and an enormous interconnected web were discovered inside a sulfide cave on the border between Greece and Albania.
