Uzbek man dies after falling from mountain in Kazakhstan (video)

An Uzbek citizen died after falling into a ravine while hiking in the Turkestan region of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan reported.

According to the information, on September 1 the 112 hotline of the Turkestan regional Emergency Management Agency received a report from a relative about the disappearance of two young men, born in 1996 and 1997. They had set out for the mountains from Shymkent on August 31 and did not return. Following the appeal, search and rescue operations were immediately launched.

The search was carried out at an altitude of 2,200 meters above sea level in the Sayram-Ugam National Nature Park, near Sayramsu Peak, 8 kilometers from the village of Kaskasu. Despite the dangerous mountain terrain, rescuers managed to establish voice contact with one of the tourists in the area of the “Goodwill Games” pass. He informed them that a 1996-born citizen of Uzbekistan had fallen into a gorge and suffered fatal injuries.

Due to the rocky landscape, a helicopter could not approach the accident site, forcing rescuers to proceed on foot. At their request, five professional climbers from the Kazakhstan Mountaineering Federation joined the operation. Using special equipment, they climbed the rocks, located the surviving tourist, and recovered the body of the deceased. Both were safely lowered from the mountain.

The rescued man was transported to the foot of the mountain on horseback, where he was met by his relatives. The body of the deceased was also delivered to the ground and handed over to police.

In total, 18 personnel, five units of emergency services, forestry and police officers, climbers from the Kazakhstan Mountaineering Federation, drones, and a Kazakh Air Force “Kazaviaspas” rescue helicopter took part in the operation.

It is worth noting that earlier, a 30-year-old Uzbek worker died following a rock mass collapse at a mine in the Kuraginsky district of Russia’s Krasnoyarsk Territory.
