Alisher Kadyrov, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and leader of the Milliy Tiklanish party, said he would propose submitting a list of undesirable persons to Parliament. He made the statement at a press conference held on January 16.
During the event, the issue of restricting entry into Uzbekistan for certain foreign propagandists who interfere in the country’s internal affairs was raised.
“There is a saying that calling caution cowardice is a mistake. I believe the time has come to take a firmer stance toward certain forces that are misinterpreting Uzbekistan’s openness and its peace-oriented policy,” Kadyrov said.
A QALAMPIR.UZ journalist noted that in recent years, cases of humiliation and pressure against Uzbek citizens have been observed abroad, particularly in Russia, while no meaningful practical measures have been taken in response. The journalist asked whether political parties would take responsibility for addressing such situations and submit a list of undesirable individuals to Parliament.
In response, the lawmaker said that if the Milliy Tiklanish Democratic Party did not address this issue, no one else would.
“We will deal with this, because after Solovyov’s latest statements, we have concluded that if we do not take action, no one will. We intend to address this matter seriously. We will compile such a list and discuss it with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I cannot guarantee the outcome, as decisions depend on various factors, but we will ensure that proposals are made and initiatives are put forward,” Kadyrov said.
It is worth recalling that under current legislation, foreign nationals or stateless persons whose actions or public statements undermine Uzbekistan’s state sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security, incite interstate, social, national, racial, or religious hostility, or insult the honor, dignity, or history of the Uzbek people are considered undesirable and are barred from entering the country.
