In the Namangan region, two chief specialists of the regional Department of Construction and Housing and Communal Services demanded $22,000 in exchange for illegally facilitating construction approvals. This was reported by the State Security Service.

According to the report, the officials acted in collusion and demanded $22,000 from a local entrepreneur in exchange for facilitating approvals related to a two-story non-residential building located in the Yangi Namangan district. These included a construction permit, an architectural planning assignment, and project documentation. In March this year, they reportedly received $7,000.

During a joint operation conducted by officers of the State Security Service in cooperation with the department under the Prosecutor General’s Office, one of the suspects was detained while receiving the remaining $15,000, with material evidence secured. The second chief specialist was also detained in accordance with procedural rules.

It was reported that a criminal case has been initiated against the suspects, and investigative actions are ongoing.

Earlier, it was reported that in the Samarkand region, a man attempting to sell 5.1 hectares of farmland for $60,000 had been detained.
