President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid a visit to the Surkhandarya region on February 26. The head of state began his trip with a visit to the mausoleum of Hakim Termizi, the presidential press service reported.
During the visit, verses from the Qur’an were recited and prayers were offered for peace and prosperity for the nation and the country.
In a conversation with religious scholars, the discussion focused on the need to deeply study the spiritual and educational legacy of the great scholar Hakim Termizi, who made a significant contribution to the development of Islam, and to widely promote his heritage among both the people of Uzbekistan and the international community.
It was also emphasized that the noble values of Islam — such as kindness, humanity, and compassion — as well as the preservation and development of national traditions, should serve as a foundation for educating the younger generation in the spirit of high ideals and strengthening their love and devotion to the Motherland.
In recent years, the sacred site has been renovated and transformed into a well-maintained and beautiful complex. All necessary conditions have been created for visitors. The surrounding area has been благоустроен, and extensive restoration work has been carried out at the mausoleum. Modern lighting, heating, and cooling systems have been installed. To create a favorable microclimate, more than 4,000 perennial ornamental trees of 40 varieties and over 20,000 seasonal flowers have been planted across the complex.
Hakim Termizi authored numerous works in the fields of Qur’anic exegesis (tafsir), hadith, Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), theology (kalam), Islamic philosophy, the history of Sufism, and Sufi thought. Relevant instructions were given to maintain the complex properly and to further expand facilities for pilgrims and visitors.
