Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviews project for new airport in Bukhara

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the project for the construction of a new airport in Bukhara during his visit to the city today, April 10. This was reported by the presidential press service.

According to the statement, the country’s transport infrastructure is being steadily developed. New roads and bridges are being built, and conditions for passengers are improving. It was noted that during his visit to Bukhara region in 2024, the head of state gave an important instruction to build a new international airport in Bukhara in order to further develop the region’s tourism potential.

A total of 370 hectares of land outside the city has been allocated for the construction of this transport facility and the related infrastructure. As part of the project, a road leading to the airport is also being built. Its total length will be 23.8 kilometers, of which 2.7 kilometers will be entirely new and 21.1 kilometers will be reconstructed. The project also provides for the construction of two overpasses, nine underground pedestrian crossings and eight bridges along the route.

According to the project, the new airport will include a 3.3-kilometer runway capable of receiving all types of aircraft, as well as a terminal complex with the capacity to serve 1,200 passengers per hour at a high standard.

“Our goal is to build an airport that will provide modern and convenient services for the residents of Bukhara region, as well as for local and foreign tourists. Therefore, this airport must fully meet international standards,” the President said.

The head of state was also briefed on other construction projects aimed at increasing the economic, investment and tourism potential of Bukhara region.

It is worth noting that earlier, during his visit to Bukhara, Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed construction work underway at the new administrative center of Bukhara region.

Tomorrow, April 11, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will pay a working visit to Uzbekistan. As part of the visit, high-level talks will be held in Bukhara. The parties are expected to discuss the further development of Uzbek-Kazakh relations of friendship, strategic partnership and alliance.
