During the Hajj-2025 season, eight Uzbek citizens suffering from chronic illnesses died in Saudi Arabia due to heatstroke and underlying health conditions. This was reported by the Dunyo news agency.

It was noted that during this year’s Hajj season, over 15,000 pilgrims from Uzbekistan were successfully assisted in performing the pilgrimage in an organized and exemplary manner. The organizational work was carried out with the support of the Committee for Religious Affairs of Uzbekistan, the Muslim Board, members of the working group, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Saudi Arabia, and the Consulate General in Jeddah.

“The measures taken by the government of Uzbekistan to prepare and organize the Hajj-2025 season were highly appreciated by the government of Saudi Arabia,” the report stated.

According to reports, the departure of Uzbek pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj began on May 13 and continued until May 30. After completing the Hajj rituals, the return of pilgrims to Uzbekistan started on June 12. The last group of pilgrims returned home by air on June 29.

To facilitate the return of pilgrims, direct flights were arranged from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to various regions of Uzbekistan.

Despite the government’s efforts to safeguard the health and well-being of Uzbek pilgrims, four individuals with chronic diseases died due to extreme heat during the pilgrimage.

In addition, despite prior warnings from the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, four more Uzbek citizens who had traveled illegally for this year’s Hajj also died in Saudi Arabia.

Furthermore, after the conclusion of the pilgrimage, more than 40 Uzbek pilgrims approached the Consulate General in Jeddah to obtain return certificates due to the loss of their international passports.

It should be noted that earlier, it was reported that Rabbimkul Muhammadiyev, the imam-khatib of the “Rakat” mosque in Tashkent’s Yakkasaroy district and a group leader during this year’s Hajj, had also passed away.
