Alisher Kadyrov, a deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and head of the Milliy Tiklanish (National Revival) Democratic Party faction, stated that those who organized and authorized the beer festival in Tashkent should be held accountable. He shared his position on his Telegram channel.
According to Kadyrov, the Law “On Advertising” strictly prohibits any promotion of alcoholic beverages, including sponsorship of events that use the name, symbol, or imagery of alcoholic drinks.
“Those who organized and permitted this festival must be punished,” the deputy emphasized.
For reference, Article 39 of the Law “On Advertising” prohibits conducting promotional campaigns or similar events to advertise beer, natural and sparkling wines. It also bans sponsoring cultural, entertainment, mass, and sports events with alcoholic beverage branding.
It is worth noting that a beer festival was held on Taras Shevchenko Street in Tashkent from June 27 to 29 this year. However, no official comments were made about the event, and it remains unclear who organized it or granted permission.
Earlier, Feruza Muhammedjonova, deputy chairwoman of the Milliy Tiklanish Democratic Party, also strongly criticized the festival. She noted that while the Russian media actively covered the event, Uzbek media outlets remained silent.
“Alcohol festivals are openly held in Uzbek society, accompanied by public noise and advertising,” Muhammedjonova said.
She also drew attention to the public outcry over the cutting of trees while ignoring the beer festival.
“Rebellion against cutting down trees, silence against the beer festival!” she remarked.
