Deputy governor in Andijan arrested for $15,000 bribe (video)

In Andijan region, a deputy district governor was caught accepting a $15,000 bribe, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

According to the statement, the deputy governor abused his position by facilitating the allocation of land along a major road in the district. He demanded $15,000 from a citizen in exchange for officially approving 68 commercial plots, each measuring 30 square meters, on a total of 60 sotik of land, by using his connections with senior officials to formalize the necessary documents.

During a rapid response operation conducted by law enforcement, the official was caught in the act, receiving the full amount of the bribe, with evidence seized at the scene. A criminal case has been opened against him under Article 168, Part 3, Clauses “a” and “b,” and Article 28,211, Part 2, Clause “b” of the Criminal Code, and pre-trial detention has been applied.

It is worth noting that earlier, in Jizzakh region, an employee of “Hududgaz” was arrested while accepting a $6,000 bribe.
