Man detained for handing out candy containing needle fragments to children

A man has been detained in the Lenin district of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, after allegedly handing out candy to children with needle fragments hidden inside, the district police press service said.

According to the report, at around 8:00 p.m. on March 28, police received information that a man in the Ak-Ordo residential area had been distributing sweets to children, and needle fragments were later found inside the candy.

A local resident identified as B.G. said that her 11-year-old daughter, along with other children, had received such candy from an unidentified man.

A criminal case has been opened in connection with the incident, and the relevant forensic examinations have been ordered. Police officers detained a suspect identified as N.D., who has been placed in temporary detention.

During a search of his residence, candy and other physical evidence were seized. The investigation is ongoing. The Lenin District Court has ordered that the suspect be held in pretrial detention for two months.

Earlier, it was reported that a Central Asian man in Russia had been sentenced to 14 years in prison for attempting to rape a young girl.
