Five brothers have been detained in the Tashkent region for storing drugs and weapons in their homes, the State Security Service reported.

According to the report, the operation was carried out jointly by officers of the State Security Service and the Internal Affairs bodies. The homes of the five brothers, residents of the Bostanlyk district in the Tashkent region, were inspected in the presence of witnesses.

As a result, law enforcement officers seized a total of 9 kilograms and 14 grams of marijuana, one ball of cannabis, one pneumatic weapon, 21 hunting cartridges, 19 cartridges of another type, one rubber baton (truncheon), and two cold weapons, which were hidden by the suspects.

It was reported that these individuals had previously been convicted of crimes related to drug trafficking.

“The saddest part is that they also involved their two sons, both born in 2003, in their illegal activities,” the report stated.

Additionally, during the inspection of their associate’s residence, born in 1970, officers found seven packets of dried cannabis wrapped in paper and a smoking device in the pantry and kitchen. These were also seized as material evidence.

A criminal case has been initiated against the individuals, and investigations are ongoing.

It is worth noting that over the past five years, the number of drug-related crimes in Uzbekistan has doubled, while the amount of synthetic substances seized has increased tenfold.
