Cannavaro arrives in Tashkent

Today, October 6, Fabio Cannavaro, a candidate for the position of head coach of the Uzbekistan national football team, arrived in Tashkent with his coaching staff. The news was reported by the Football Association of Uzbekistan.

It is worth noting that the World Cup champion and Ballon d’Or winner is close to becoming the head coach of the Uzbekistan national team. The Italian specialist has reached a verbal agreement with the Football Association of Uzbekistan to take on this role.

For reference, after completing his playing career, Fabio Cannavaro managed several clubs in the Middle East and China. In 2019, he was appointed head coach of the Chinese national team. From 2022 to 2023, he served as the head coach of Italian club Benevento. In April 2024, he took charge of Udinese (Italy) and worked there for a period. Following that, Cannavaro also managed the Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb. He has been without a team since April 9 of this year.

It should be noted that earlier reports indicated the 52-year-old specialist’s salary, including coaching expenses, will be approximately 4 million euros per year. International publications wrote that with this figure, Cannavaro would become the fourth highest-paid coach in the world.
