Six Uzbek citizens who were on the international wanted list have been detained in Turkey and extradited to Uzbekistan, the Interior Ministry reported.
According to the statement, during meetings organized by Interpol, an agreement was reached between the National Central Bureaus of Tashkent and Ankara. With the assistance of officers from Ankara’s Interpol national central bureau, the six wanted individuals were handed over to special services.
“They are accused of committing various crimes, including human trafficking, large-scale fraud, and other serious offenses”, the report said.
The detainees were brought to Uzbekistan under the escort of officers from Ankara’s Interpol National Central Bureau and the Turkish gendarmerie. All six have been handed over to Uzbek authorities for further investigation.
It is worth noting that earlier, several individuals wanted on fraud charges were detained and deported to Uzbekistan during joint operations conducted by the interior ministries of Turkey and Uzbekistan. Among those returned to the country were A.G., born in 1982 in the Bukhara region; B.Sh., born in 1992 in the Samarkand region; and M.G., born in 1970 in the Navoi region.
