Starting May 15, 2025, Uzbekistan will implement a new procedure for providing loans to students covering travel and related expenses under international “Work and Travel” programs. This initiative was formalized by a government resolution adopted on May 2.
The loans are intended to support students traveling to countries such as those in the European Union, South Korea, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand to participate in temporary employment and cultural exchange programs.
Up to 2,000 students per year will be eligible to receive interest-free loans amounting to 40 times the basic calculation amount—approximately 15 million sums.
Loan applications must be submitted through the Public Services Centers or via the State Services Development Agency website (my.gov.uz). Applicants are required to provide the following documents:
- An employment contract signed between the student and the foreign employer;
- Proof of income for the past 12 months from the guarantor, along with a signed statement of consent to act as a guarantor (if applicable);
- A valid visa.
The loan must be repaid within one month of the student’s return to Uzbekistan.
Once 2,000 students have been approved within a calendar year, no further applications will be accepted until the following year. Applicants who apply after the quota is filled will not be automatically registered for the next round and must reapply the following year.
For reference, the loan is interest-free but must be repaid in full under the specified terms.
