In Tashkent, a 25-year-old male student strangled a woman he had called to a rented apartment for a romantic encounter. The incident reportedly occurred after the woman allegedly attempted to blackmail the man. This information was reported on the Millar program.

According to the report, on June 10 of this year, in the Yashnobod district of the capital, the student invited the woman to a rented apartment for a romantic meeting. During their time in the apartment, an argument broke out between them. As a result, the man intentionally strangled the woman to death and, in an attempt to conceal the crime, wrapped her body in a sheet with a rope and hid it from the scene.

’’I am a second‑year bachelor student. I joined that Telegram channel to satisfy my desires, a channel for ads by women of easy virtue. I searched for daily rental apartments. I opened one girl’s direct messages and then asked her for details. She said her rate was 1,2 million soums per hour. Everything was going normally. Her phone kept buzzing nonstop. Somebody started talking to her. Then she began threatening me. She shouted at a medium‑high pitch and used blackmail: Right now, wherever you are, you will find 5 million soums, or I will have you locked up. I completely lost myself. While she was shouting like that, I covered her mouth with my fingers, and she bit my finger. When she bit my finger, my hands went to her neck. After that, I do not know what happened. When I tried to move her, her body was stiff as if frozen. I became very frightened. I left for Surkhandarya, I was terrified,’’ the accused said.

Today, October 7, the Yashnobod district criminal court reviewed the case described above. The defendant was found guilty of the crime under Article 97, part 1 of the Criminal Code (intentional homicide) and was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment. The sentence will be served in a general-regime correctional colony.

It is worth noting that during the 10th plenary session of the Senate, it was previously reported that crimes among students are on the rise. In particular, over the first six months of 2025, 307 students from 102 higher education institutions committed various crimes.
