Mirziyoyev meets with Elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

On November 12, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a business delegation from the U.S. state of Utah, led by Elder David Bednar of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Miles Hansen, Chairman of the Stirling Foundation. The meeting was reported by the presidential press service.

According to the report, U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick also attended the meeting. The parties discussed prospects for expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation with Utah amid the growing momentum of the Uzbekistan–U.S. strategic partnership.

The sides expressed satisfaction with the active dialogue and exchanges between Uzbekistan and Utah. It was noted that joint projects have already been launched in the areas of digitalization, education, and social protection.

The meeting highlighted the significant potential for implementing projects in innovation, mining, women’s entrepreneurship, inclusive education, healthcare, water supply, and sanitation. At the conclusion of the talks, an agreement was reached to organize a visit to Uzbekistan by a delegation led by the Governor of Utah to further develop interregional cooperation.

It is worth noting that on November 6 of this year, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and participated, along with other Central Asian leaders, in the C5+1 summit.

Subsequently, it was announced that the position of the Representative of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the United States would be established. In addition, the creation of the U.S.–Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council was announced, aimed at expanding and strengthening mutually beneficial trade, investment, and commercial ties, improving the business climate, and supporting entrepreneurial activity.
