Uzbekistan’s Defense Doctrine and National Security Concept will be revised. President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced this today, January 13, during an expanded meeting of the Security Council dedicated to strengthening the country’s military security and defense.
At the meeting, it was noted that both the nature and scale of modern risks and threats are changing rapidly, placing greater demands on the defense and security sector. In this context, the head of state said the time has come to review the Defense Doctrine adopted eight years ago and the National Security Concept adopted in 1997.
The new Defense Doctrine will preserve Uzbekistan’s status of non-alignment with any military bloc and will continue to rely on multilateral diplomacy. It was also emphasized that the doctrine should ensure development based on high-tech strategies, military independence, and regional stability.
“Overall, the new doctrine should serve as a foundation for the technological modernization of the army and the introduction of advanced military solutions,” the president said.
