Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov took part in the first ministerial dialogue in the “Central Asia – United Kingdom” format held in London and chaired by the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, Yvette Cooper. Saidov shared the information on his Telegram channel.
According to the Uzbek foreign minister, the dialogue served as a timely and substantive platform for an in-depth exchange of views on the region’s economic development priorities, as well as for discussing prospects for expanding trade and economic cooperation with the United Kingdom.
Particular attention was paid to trade diversification, industrial cooperation, the development of sustainable infrastructure, and unlocking Central Asia’s potential in strategic raw materials and renewable energy.
In addition, Saidov met with Prince Edward in London.
The meeting provided an important opportunity to engage directly with students from the Central Asian region studying in the United Kingdom, hear their views, and discuss ways to further support youth exchanges, academic mobility, and people-to-people ties.

Productive and substantive negotiations were also held with Secretary of State Yvette Cooper on further expanding and elevating the strategic partnership to a new stage.
“Our discussions focused on developing bilateral ties in priority areas, including trade and investment, sustainable infrastructure development, cooperation in the energy sector, and regional connectivity,” the statement said.
During the meeting, memorandums of understanding aimed at achieving practical results were signed, focusing on the implementation of joint projects, the effective use of green financing instruments, and the expansion of education and academic exchanges.
