More than 11 kilograms of narcotic substances were seized and taken as material evidence from individuals residing in the Samarkand, Surkhandarya, and Khorezm regions. The State Security Service reported this.
According to the report, a resident of the Urgut district in the Samarkand region violated established procedures and attempted to smuggle 8 kilograms and 860 grams of opium from Tajikistan into Uzbekistan through bypass routes. While crossing the Uzbek-Tajik state border, the individual ignored the lawful order of the SSS border troops to stop, abandoned the narcotics, and fled in an unknown direction. However, as a result of immediate operational measures, the drug trafficker was detained.
During the pre-investigation inquiry, it was determined that another resident of the Urgut district was his accomplice, and he was also detained in accordance with procedural regulations.
In another case in the Surkhandarya region, a resident of the Denov district, previously convicted for drug-related offenses, was inspected by officers of the State Security Service and the Internal Affairs bodies. During the inspection, 31 grams of opium were found in his possession.
Subsequently, it was revealed that he had purchased the drug from another resident of the Denov district. A search of the latter’s residence uncovered an additional 1 kilogram and 483 grams of opium, which were confiscated as material evidence.
In the Khorezm region, a resident of the Gurlan district, previously twice convicted for drug trafficking, was arrested while selling 877 grams of hashish to a buyer for $14,000.
It was established that the narcotic substance had been smuggled into Uzbekistan by Tajik drug couriers through bypass routes.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated against all the detained individuals under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and a preventive measure in the form of detention has been applied.
It is worth noting that earlier, a resident of the Fergana region was detained for storing potent pharmaceutical substances worth a total of 412 million soums in his home, while in Tashkent, another individual was caught transporting 967 grams of hashish in his car.
