Infant found dead at maternity hospital in Samarkand

Reports circulated on social media claiming that in Payariq District of Samarkand Region, a woman gave birth to a baby near a maternity hospital and abandoned the newborn in a toilet waste bin. To clarify the situation, QALAMPIR.UZ contacted the press service of the Samarkand Regional Department of Internal Affairs.

According to the department, the incident occurred on December 27 last year at a maternity hospital in Payariq District. After the infant was found, it was determined that the baby was not breathing and was dead. However, it remains unclear whether the child was killed by the mother or died of other causes.

The Department of Internal Affairs stated that a forensic examination has currently been назначен in connection with the case. The examination will determine whether the baby was born alive or whether the fetus had died prior to birth.

“Additional information will be provided after the forensic examination results are announced,” a representative of the department’s press service said.

It is worth noting that earlier it was reported that a fetus estimated to be approximately three to six months old had been buried in the grounds of Production Workshop No. 12 located on the territory of the Fergana Oil Refinery.
