Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulates Matviyenko on her birthday

On April 7, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with Valentina Matviyenko, Chair of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. The Uzbek presidential press service reported this.

At the beginning of the conversation, the Uzbek leader warmly congratulated Matviyenko on her birthday and wished her good health, happiness, and continued success.

The two sides noted with particular satisfaction that the parliaments of both countries are making an active contribution to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership and allied relations between Uzbekistan and Russia.

Meetings of the commission on cooperation between the upper chambers of the two parliaments are being held annually. Contacts within the framework of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly have also been established effectively.

At the end of the conversation, the Uzbek leader reaffirmed his support for the further development of close and productive cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.

It is worth noting that on March 24 this year, President Mirziyoyev also held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which they discussed the construction of Uzbekistan’s first nuclear power plant.
