A man has been detained in Surkhandarya after allegedly hiding nearly 191 kilograms of hashish inside 210 Afghan cauldrons. This was reported by the State Security Service.
According to the report, a large shipment of narcotic substances was intercepted as a result of оперативно-search measures conducted in cooperation between the Surkhandarya regional department of the State Security Service, the Border Troops and customs authorities as part of efforts to combat drug smuggling.
In particular, a Hyundai cargo truck driven by a Denov resident born in 1990, who had been placed under prior surveillance and had entered from Afghanistan through the Termiz Avtoyo‘l international border crossing point, was subjected to an in-depth inspection. As a result, officers found hashish secretly hidden inside 210 out of 750 Afghan cauldrons loaded in the truck. The total estimated weight of the seized narcotic substance was 190 kilograms and 800 grams.
It was reported that the Afghan cauldrons had been sent by the manufacturer in the name of a business entity in one of the Central Asian republics. An inquiry into the case is currently underway.
It is worth noting that earlier, five people involved in the illegal circulation of narcotic substances in Fergana region were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 12 to 15 years.
