Tashkent State Medical University appoints its first rector

As of April 23, Shukhrat Abdujalilovich Boymurodov has been appointed the first rector of the newly established Tashkent State Medical University. This was announced by the press service of the Tashkent Medical Academy.

According to the presidential resolution “On measures to radically improve the system of personnel training in the medical field,” signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on April 22, the Tashkent Medical Academy, Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute, and Tashkent State Institute of Dentistry were dissolved. In their place, the Tashkent State Medical University was established.

The new university is envisioned as a modern institution dedicated to the training of medical professionals, advanced education, and the enhancement of scientific research.

Shukhrat Boymurodov had been serving as Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at the Tashkent Medical Academy since 2017.

For reference, Shukhrat Boymurodov holds a Doctor of Medical Sciences degree, is a professor, and an academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. He is also a maxillofacial and plastic surgeon. He studied at the Faculty of Dentistry at the Tashkent State Medical Institute from 1989 to 1994 and completed his residency in 1994–1995 at the Department of ENT Diseases of the same faculty.

It is worth recalling that, earlier, by a decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, Bobur Abdullayev was appointed Rector of Inha University in Tashkent.
