The State Security Service (SSS) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs have detained a person for illegally storing a Makarov pistol in Tashkent during the large-scale events "Oriat" and "Qaradori," held from February 5 to 7. The SSS press service reported the incident.
During the investigation, authorities found that a suspect, born in 1980, had threatened a citizen, born in 1987, in the Uchtepa district. The suspect allegedly struck the victim multiple times in the face, stole a mobile phone worth $280 and 460,000 soums, and then fled the scene. A criminal case has been opened, and he has been placed in detention as a preventive measure.
Further intelligence led to the discovery of an accomplice who was storing a Makarov pistol at his residence. On February 6, authorities detained the individual, born in 1978, and searched his home in the Uchtepa district. They discovered a Makarov pistol manufactured in 1980, two cartridges, and 15 rounds of live ammunition. The evidence was properly documented.
For reference, a similar case was recently reported at Tashkent International Airport. A traveler arriving from Yekaterinburg was detained while attempting to illegally import a firearm into Uzbekistan. Upon inspection of his green travel bag, authorities found a Stalker pneumatic pistol, which had not been declared during customs control, lacked proper permits, and was accompanied by 860 bullets.
