A man attempting to pass through the “green corridor” at Tashkent International Airport, presenting himself as a pilgrim returning from Umrah, was found to be carrying a large quantity of undocumented medicines in his luggage. The press service of the Tashkent-AERO Specialized Customs Complex reported the incident.

According to the statement, the individual’s unusual behavior raised suspicions among customs officers.

It was later determined that the man, who appeared and introduced himself as an Umrah pilgrim, had in fact arrived on a flight from Delhi.

A search of his luggage revealed 1,798 units of various types of medicines with no accompanying documentation, with an estimated value of 204.97 million UZS.

Authorities noted that an investigation into the case is currently underway.

It is worth noting that earlier, a similar attempt to smuggle potent medicines into circulation was prevented in the city of Quvasoy in the Fergana region.
