Uzbekistan’s Independence Day celebrations know no distance or borders. The festivities marking the country’s 34th anniversary of independence reached the Turkish capital, Ankara. On August 31, Uzbek citizens temporarily working in Turkey joined the celebration and shared in the festive spirit. QALAMPIR.UZ directly covered the holiday events.

The holiday events were held in two stages. First, competitions in four types of sports, such as football, traditional wrestling, short-distance running, and tug-of-war, took place.

The event demonstrated that Uzbek national wrestling is becoming increasingly popular in Turkey, with Uzbek citizens temporarily working in Ankara playing a key role in this process. This also shows that, despite being engaged in various types of work, Uzbeks in Ankara still find time for the sports they are passionate about, thanks to the favorable conditions created for them.

After the sports competitions concluded, the winners were awarded various gifts by the Migration Agency and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Ankara. The sporting contests became one of the event’s most vibrant highlights. Despite being held at different locations, Uzbek women living in Turkey actively supported their male compatriots throughout the competitions.

In the second part of the day, the program continued with a festive banquet and a concert. Skilled artists invited from Uzbekistan, along with chefs specially brought in for the occasion, served the Uzbek community in Ankara during this segment of the celebration. At the conclusion of the event, officials promised to continue sharing such spirit and togetherness with Uzbek citizens abroad, particularly in Turkey, during future national holidays.

QALAMPIR.UZ covered the events in full detail. Very soon, a video report about the celebration of the 34th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s Independence, held in Ankara, will be available on our social media pages.
