Uzbekistan has ranked 141st out of 147 countries worldwide in terms of artificial intelligence usage. The level of neural network adoption in the country stands at just 6.3 percent, according to a 2025 report released by the Microsoft Institute for the Economy of AI.
The study assessed the share of active AI users, taking into account differences across operating systems and device types. The top positions in the ranking were occupied by the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, and Norway, where AI adoption rates range from 45.3 percent to 64 percent. The lowest positions in the global ranking were held by Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Cambodia, placing between 145th and 147th.
Despite the low ranking, Uzbekistan is showing a positive growth trend. In early July 2025, AI usage in the country stood at 5.7 percent, rising to 6.3 percent by the second half of the year.
Microsoft analysts also identified the rapid growth of the DeepSeek platform as one of the key trends of 2025. This open ecosystem has been gaining popularity, particularly in markets where Western technological solutions are not widely available.
The geographical distribution of DeepSeek users differs significantly from that of American AI platforms. The platform has shown sharp growth in a number of Asian and African countries. However, in Uzbekistan, DeepSeek’s share remained below 5 percent by the end of the year. By comparison, the figure reached 43 percent in Russia.
It is worth noting that earlier it was reported that from next year, students and pupils in Uzbekistan will begin studying artificial intelligence.
