Number of babies born every minute in Uzbekistan announced

In Uzbekistan, two babies are born every minute, according to the Family and Gender Research Institute.

Data shows that in 2024, a total of 926,400 babies were born in the country. This means 2,531 babies are born every day, 105 every hour, two every minute, and one every 34 seconds.

For comparison, the birth rate per minute is 0.6 in Kazakhstan, 0.5 in Tajikistan, 0.3 in Kyrgyzstan, 3 in Türkiye, 1.4 in Germany and France, 17.1 in China, and 43.6 in India.

“This is not just statistics. These figures show that the institution of family in our country is strengthening, the share of youth remains high, the demographic dividend period continues, and the demand for the labor market, education, and social infrastructure will increase in the coming years,” the report said.

It is worth noting that by the end of August this year, Uzbekistan’s permanent population had exceeded 38 million.
