Forty-four food poisoning cases recorded in Uzbekistan over one year (video)

A total of 44 food poisoning cases were recorded in Uzbekistan in 2025. The figures were announced on February 24 during a press conference held by the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health on efforts to ensure sanitary and epidemiological stability.
According to the committee, 44 cases of food poisoning were registered in 2025. Of these, six cases occurred among preschool children, while 29 cases were reported in household settings. In addition, during the year, 63 people — including 17 children — were affected in 29 separate incidents after consuming homemade canned vegetable products.
The committee also reported that it received 3,877 appeals from individuals and legal entities in 2025. Of the reviewed appeals, 82 percent were resolved positively or satisfied through the provision of legal clarification.
Furthermore, 33,230 tons of substandard food products were identified in 2025.
“During inspections, 33,230 tons of food products whose quality and safety were not guaranteed, whose expiration dates had passed, or whose organoleptic indicators did not meet regulatory standards were destroyed in accordance with established procedures. By product type, the largest volumes included 259 tons of sugar and confectionery products, 251 tons of alcoholic and soft drinks, 220 tons of fruit and vegetable products, and 106 tons of meat and meat products,” said Nurmat Otabekov, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee.
Earlier, workshops producing low-quality cooking oil using artisanal methods were identified in the Kukdala and Shahrisabz districts of the Kashkadarya region.
