Uzbekistan has started paying pensions in cash through the biometric identification of citizens (Face-ID). The news was reported by the Pension Fund.

It is reported that since October of this year, cash pension payments in the regions have begun to be made through biometric identification of citizens (Face-ID) and by obtaining their electronic signatures.

The Pension Fund stated that the purpose of introducing this system is to ensure the full and timely delivery of pensions to citizens.

“Now, the People's Bank, which may be involved in the payment process, will mark payments as ‘paid’ in its reports. This will prevent cases of non-payment to citizens or payments made to other individuals,” the report said.

It is worth noting that on September 10, Murodbek Otajonov, Executive Director of the Off-Budget Pension Fund under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, announced at a roundtable discussion marking the 32nd anniversary of the Law "On State Pension Provision of Citizens" that Uzbekistan plans to gradually increase the retirement age.
