On May 27, a section of the highway in the Zamin district of Jizzakh region was blocked by sand and rock debris following a flash flood, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
It was noted that due to short-term heavy rainfall, accumulation and flow of rainwater from streams (floodways) occurred in several areas of the Zamin district. As a result, a portion of the highway passing through the “Duoba” neighborhood in the village of Qarong’usay was obstructed by sand and rock masses, temporarily halting vehicle movement on this route.
According to the ministry, there was no damage to residents, residential buildings, social facilities, or livestock. Currently, special engineering equipment is being used to clear the aftermath of the flood.
It should be noted that due to expected rains from May 28 to June 2, mudslides and floods may occur in the foothill and mountainous areas of the republic.
