Today, April 9, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Amir Temur Square in Tashkent and laid a wreath at the foot of the monument to Sahibqiran Amir Temur, the renowned statesman, undefeated commander, and patron of science, culture, and the arts. This was reported by the presidential press service.

These days, the 690th anniversary of Amir Temur is being widely celebrated in Uzbekistan. On this occasion, numerous spiritual, educational, scientific, and cultural events are being held across the country.

Amir Temur was a great historical figure who, in the 14th century, during an extremely complex period, restored national statehood in the territory of present-day Uzbekistan and showed immense courage in the cause of the homeland’s freedom. The powerful empire he founded left an indelible mark on the history of world civilization. The life and work of Sahibqiran have been studied with great interest by scholars around the world for nearly seven centuries. The fact that thousands of artistic, scholarly, and cultural works dedicated to Amir Temur and the Timurids have been created in various countries, and that this process continues today, testifies to the incomparable significance of his historical image and legacy.

“Our people have always lived with pride and honor in the knowledge that such a great figure emerged from the sacred soil of our homeland. Especially today, in the conditions of New Uzbekistan, the deep study of the history and legacy of Amir Temur and the Timurids is more important than ever. The Timurid Renaissance created by this glorious dynasty serves as a source of confidence, inspiration, and strength for our people in laying the foundation for a new Renaissance in our country,” the statement said.

According to the report, Amir Temur’s wise sayings — “Strength is in justice” and “With justice, the garden of the world will flourish” — are today serving as a distinctive guide and practical program for the large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan aimed at building a social state and upholding human dignity. In this sense, the legacy of Sahibqiran is inseparably linked not only with the nation’s glorious past, but also with its current development and future aspirations.

In recent years, special attention has been paid in the country to the in-depth study of the legacy of Amir Temur and the Timurids, as well as to its broad promotion at both the national and international levels. For this purpose, a separate resolution was adopted in connection with the 690th anniversary of Amir Temur, and large-scale work is being carried out.

In particular, it has been established that every April will be observed in the country as the Month of Amir Temur. Writers and artists are producing new scholarly and literary books, films and stage productions, as well as works of visual art. In particular, the famous work “Temur Tuzuklari” has been republished. In Uzbekistan, there are state awards, squares and parks, educational institutions, and cultural centers named after Amir Temur. The “Temurbeklar maktablari” operating in the regions also serve as a distinctive example in educating young people in the spirit of devotion to the homeland.

These days, the holding of a prestigious international conference in the capital dedicated to Amir Temur and the Timurid Renaissance is also clear confirmation that these noble efforts are continuing consistently and systematically. Alongside scholars from Uzbekistan, the event is being attended by prominent historians, poets, writers, and public and cultural figures from various countries around the world.

Today, the country is paying great attention to following Sahibqiran’s teachings by building a just state, helping those in need, supporting young people, women, and the elderly, developing science, education, and creativity, and remaining open to the world while cooperating with different countries. These aspects also clearly demonstrate the continued relevance of Amir Temur’s legacy in our lives today.

“In recent years, major spiritual and educational centers have been built with the aim of strengthening our national identity, restoring our rich history, and passing on the legacy of our ancestors to future generations. In Tashkent, the Center of Islamic Civilization has been established, and in Samarkand, the Imam Bukhari complex has been built. Alongside these, the State Museum of the History of the Timurids, which was built 30 years ago, has also been completely renovated in line with modern standards. Now this institution is becoming a center of knowledge and enlightenment, innovative thinking, new ideas, and research. All necessary conditions have been created there, and this institution will serve to educate the people, especially the younger generation, in the spirit of national pride and patriotism,” the statement said.

During the event, high respect was paid to the memory of Amir Temur, and flowers were laid at the foot of his monument.

It is well known that wherever Sahibqiran Amir Temur was, he placed great importance on creating gardens and beautifying every inch of land. As a natural continuation of these creative traditions, extensive beautification work has also been carried out in Amir Temur Square.

At the end of the event, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev planted a tree in the square.
