Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan national team goalkeeper Utkir Yusupov had sustained a serious injury during the CAFA Nations Cup tournament. It has now been confirmed that Yusupov will undergo surgery to recover from his injury, according to the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA).

Reportedly, Yusupov is currently receiving treatment in Innsbruck, Austria. The UFA has engaged a highly experienced surgeon, Fink Christian, who has previously operated on renowned footballers such as Sadio Mane, Federico Chiesa, Lucas Hernandez, Leroy Sane, and David Alaba.

Yusupov was injured during the CAFA Nations Cup 2025 final match between Uzbekistan and Iran and was forced to leave the field. Due to the injury, he did not travel to Iran and remained in Uzbekistan for treatment.

It is worth noting that earlier, Uzbekistan national team player Abbosbek Fayzullaev was also ruled out of the upcoming October 13 friendly match against Uruguay due to injury. He sustained the injury during the October 9 game against Kuwait and had to leave the pitch.
