A man who attempted to bribe a law enforcement officer in the Andijan region has been detained, the regional Department of Internal Affairs reported.
According to the statement, on September 24 of this year, a 42-year-old man, along with his accomplices, lured a resident of Balikchi district to a house in Andijan city under pretenses. They recorded the victim on video in a naked state and demanded $300 through extortion, threatening to post the footage online if he refused to pay.
The victim filed a complaint with law enforcement authorities regarding the incident. During the documentation process, the suspect offered a $300 bribe to the First Deputy Head of the Balikchi district Department of Internal Affairs in exchange for avoiding legal action against himself and his accomplices, preventing the case from being forwarded to the investigative body, and closing the matter. However, the district official submitted a report to the regional Department of Internal Affairs, stating that despite his explanations that such actions were illegal, the individual continued to offer the bribe. He requested that appropriate legal measures be taken against the offender.
On September 26, during an operational event, the suspect was detained inside the Department of Internal Affairs building while handing $300 to the district officer. Relevant documents were duly prepared. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 211 of the Criminal Code (bribery), and investigative proceedings are currently underway.
It is worth noting that earlier in Tashkent, a citizen was detained while offering $10,000 to a criminal investigation officer in exchange for not taking action regarding a detected case.
