Women caught smuggling jewelry internally in Andijan

In Andijan region, three women attempting to smuggle jewelry worth 200 million soums by concealing it internally were apprehended, the regional Customs Department reported.

According to authorities, with the launch of international flights at Andijan Airport, customs inspections are being reinforced to prevent violations. During a routine check of passengers arriving on a flight from Istanbul, customs officers became suspicious of a group of travelers. A personal inspection revealed that the three women had hidden a total of 225.3 grams of finished jewelry internally in an attempt to smuggle it into the country.

Procedural documents have been officially prepared regarding the case. Preliminary estimates place the value of the seized jewelry at 200 million soums. The items have been temporarily secured.

It is worth noting that earlier, at the “Qorasuv” border customs post in Andijan region, a foreign national was caught attempting to smuggle jewelry concealed in their underwear.
