15-year-old rape victim from Angren gets medical and psychological support in Tashkent

The news that a 15-year-old girl was raped by four young men in the city of Angren, Tashkent region, has sparked widespread public outrage. The victim has now been transferred to a specialized medical facility in Tashkent, the National Agency for Social Protection reported.
According to the agency, a comprehensive on-site investigation was conducted in Angren with the participation of law enforcement agencies, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministry of Health, and guardianship authorities. Meetings were held with the girl’s family, doctors, and psychologists, and a thorough assessment of the situation was carried out.
“Taking into account the child’s condition and the recommendations of specialists, at the initiative of the agency, Y.S. was transferred to a specialized medical institution in Tashkent. A council of leading specialists was formed to determine her treatment plan,” the report stated.
It was noted that, in addition to medical care, special attention is being given to the girl’s psychological well-being. Qualified specialists from social services are providing ongoing psychological support.
For reference, by the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Protection of Children from All Forms of Violence,” which came into force on May 15, 2025, the National Agency for Social Protection is the authorized state body for coordinating, monitoring, and implementing measures to protect children from violence.“The agency is providing full support to the child and her family during the recovery process. With the agency’s assistance, the investigation into this case has been placed under special control by the Prosecutor General’s Office. All necessary procedural actions are underway. The main goal is to protect the rights of the child and bring the perpetrators to justice,” the agency emphasized.

It should be noted that a criminal case was initiated by the Angren City Department of Internal Affairs on April 9 of this year, and preliminary investigations are ongoing. Children’s Ombudsman Surayyo Rakhmonova also visited Angren on July 24 to assess the situation involving the victim.
