A total of 95,656 drugs containing strong-acting substances were discovered in the home of a previously convicted citizen in the Gijduvan district of the Bukhara region. This was reported by the State Security Service.
According to the report, raids were conducted in the district. During one such operation, the residence of a citizen born in 1985—who had a prior conviction—was searched in the presence of independent witnesses.
As a result of the search, authorities discovered a large quantity of foreign-manufactured drugs lacking customs documentation. These included:
- 34,050 “KETO COFFEE MIX SLIM COFFEE”
- 2,790 “SLT SLIM LUX COFFEE”
- 3,000 “HOODIA CACTUS SLIMMING COFFEE”
- 720 “SLIM GREEN COFFEE”
- 5,280 “NATURE COMPLEX LK FAT BURNING”
- 1,000 “LAO SE LON”
- 12,132 “FIT90 FAT BURNER”
- 13,392 “REDUXIN LIGHT”
- 23,292 “QINSISHOU PLUS”
According to the conclusion of the Center for the Safety of Pharmaceutical Products, these drugs were found to contain sibutramine, a powerful substance included in the list of strong-acting agents under Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 818 (2019) "On the Regulation of the Circulation of Strong-Acting Substances in the Republic of Uzbekistan."
A criminal case has been initiated under Part 5 of Article 251-1 of the Criminal Code for the manufacture, distribution, advertising, and illegal circulation of products containing strong-acting substances not classified as narcotics or psychotropic agents.
As part of the ongoing investigation, authorities are taking necessary measures to trace the origin and illegal importation of these drugs from abroad.
For context, sibutramine is a drug primarily used to treat obesity by suppressing appetite and increasing the feeling of fullness. It acts on the central nervous system, boosting levels of serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine in the brain. While it may contribute to weight loss, sibutramine poses serious health risks. It can elevate blood pressure, increase heart rate, and raise the risk of heart attack and stroke. It may also lead to nervous system disorders such as anxiety, insomnia, and depression. Moreover, sibutramine has the potential to cause psychological dependence, making users crave continued use.
It should be noted that similar cases involving the illegal trade of strong-acting drugs have previously been reported in the city of Andijan, the Andijan region, and the Chilonzor district of Tashkent.
