A video showing a teahouse in the Yangiyul district of Tashkent region cooking “shashlik” from sparrow meat has circulated on social media. The regional Ecology Department commented on the incident.
The Yangiyul district department of the Tashkent region Ecology Department, together with the post-patrol service of the regional Internal Affairs Department, immediately investigated the case.
The investigation revealed that the teahouse is currently not preparing “shashlik” from sparrow meat. When state inspectors questioned the head of the teahouse about the video, he stated that the footage was old and had been recorded to attract more customers.
The head of the teahouse acknowledged that making “shashlik” from sparrow meat is prohibited. Inspectors conducted explanatory work to prevent similar violations in the future.
An administrative report was drawn up against the teahouse head under Part 1 of Article 63 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility (Acceptance of illegal hunting or fishing products, and collection and processing of wild plants), and a fine of 4 million 120 thousand soums was imposed.
It is worth noting that previously, in the Peshko district of Bukhara region, individuals were detained for catching fish using an electric rod, causing environmental damage valued at 3 billion 532 million 500 thousand soums. A criminal case was opened by the prosecutor’s office, and investigative measures were initiated.
