Case initiated against law enforcement officers following the escape of a pedophile from prison

Earlier, it was reported that a 31-year-old convict serving his sentence at a penal colony in the Ohangaron district of Tashkent region escaped and raped a third-grade girl. Following the incident, a criminal case was opened against the officers of the pre-trial detention center. This was mentioned in a statement by the National Agency for Social Protection.

According to the statement, the case was initiated under Article 214, Part 3, Paragraph “v” of the Criminal Code against Sh.O., a private of the Disciplinary Department of the Central Pre-Trial Detention Center under the Department for the Execution of Punishments at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and others.

The agency reported that it had taken the case under control. To ensure the protection of the underage victim’s rights, as well as her psychological and social support, a working group consisting of specialists from the “Inson” Social Services Center has been formed. A case has been opened, and the girl has been placed in a primary assistance facility. At present, a psychologist is conducting an initial interview with her.

For reference, the incident occurred on October 16 of this year. The convict escaped from the penal colony and, on the same day, committed indecent acts against an underage girl in the Ohangaron district. A criminal case has been initiated against him under Article 119, Part 4 of the Criminal Code (satisfying sexual desire in an unnatural manner using violence).

Born in 1994 in Fergana region, M.T. was found guilty of committing a crime under Article 118 of the Criminal Code (defamation) by a court verdict in 2018 and sentenced to 16 years in prison. The sentence is to be served in a general regime colony. In 2024, he was transferred to the designated colony by a ruling of the Nishan District Criminal Court. 

It is worth noting that on October 14 of this year, a 7-year-old girl was raped by her 38-year-old relative in Yangikurgan district of Namangan region.
