Reports have circulated on social media that student phones are being inspected at a school in Tashkent. In response, the Tashkent City Department of Preschool and School Education has issued an official statement.
According to the department, general education schools in the capital regularly conduct weekly monitoring events titled "Davomat" and "Tig" during the academic year, in cooperation with law enforcement agencies. These events include the inspection of students’ mobile phones.
“As part of these events, in the presence of a member of the school's parent supervisory board, a law enforcement officer, and a teacher, mobile communication devices may be checked in order to protect students from harmful ideologies and negative external influences,” the department's statement reads.
It is worth noting that France recently announced a similar initiative. Starting from the next academic year, all secondary school students in France will be prohibited from using mobile phones throughout the school day. Phones will be stored in designated lockers and returned only after the final class.
