Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his full support for the proposals put forward by Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the Seventh Consultative Meeting of Central Asian heads of state.
“In the current context of global changes, our countries have a unique opportunity to turn the region into a key transport and logistics hub for Eurasia. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev just spoke about this convincingly,” Tokayev said in his address.
The Kazakh leader also congratulated President Mirziyoyev on the successful holding of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, noting that it was indeed an important forum.
“Strengthening the regional identity of our peoples, based on our unique historical and cultural heritage, is especially important today. Yesterday, we visited the Islamic Civilization Center, a magnificent and unique facility. It is truly a scientific, tourism, and ethnocultural project,” Tokayev emphasized.
He added that he supports President Mirziyoyev’s idea that the Tashkent Islamic Civilization Center could become a shared platform for scientific research in this field.
Tokayev reaffirmed his support for proposals to strengthen the institutional foundations of regional cooperation. “I believe that through working discussions, we can address these matters and approve the necessary measures through legislation or formal agreements,” the Kazakh president said.
He concluded by thanking President Mirziyoyev for the high level of hospitality and excellent conditions provided for the summit.
Earlier, at a press conference in Tashkent, Tokayev noted that the joint gas project between Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan is progressing successfully, with plans to expand gas transit.
It is also worth noting that Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev visited Tashkent for a working visit and met with President Mirziyoyev as an honorary guest at the Seventh Consultative Meeting.
Additionally, Kazakhstan’s President Tokayev, Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov, and Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon traveled to Tashkent to participate in the meeting, holding talks with President Mirziyoyev. They visited the Islamic Civilization Center and attended the award ceremony for winners of the “Heritage of the Future” international prize.
Furthermore, on 16 November, Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in Tashkent on a state visit following an invitation from President Mirziyoyev.
During the Seventh Consultative Meeting, President Mirziyoyev put forward a number of new regional initiatives.
