Uzbek athlete sets Asian record and becomes world champion (video)

An Uzbek athlete, Karomat Omonova, set a new Asian record and claimed the gold medal at the World Para Athletics Championships, taking place in New Delhi, India. In addition, Jasur Khojaev, competing in the shot put event, also secured the world championship title.
Today, October 2, in the women’s F46 shot put category, 20-year-old Karomat Omonova achieved a throw of 13.07 meters, breaking the Asian record and earning the world champion title.
Women’s shot put (F46):
- Gold medal: Karomat Omonova (Uzbekistan) – 13.07 meters (Asian record);
- Silver medal: Holly Robinson (New Zealand) – 12.86 meters (Oceania record);
- Bronze medal: Kelsey Pegg (Canada) – 12.76 meters.
Additionally, on October 1, in the F32 shot put event, Jasur Khojaev achieved a distance of 9.96 meters in his attempts and secured the gold medal.
Men’s shot put (F32):
- Gold medal: Jasur Khojaev (Uzbekistan) – 9.96 meters;
- Silver medal: Athanasios Konstantinidis (Greece) – 9.65 meters;
- Bronze medal: Mohamed Najib (Algeria) – 9.56 meters.
The number of medals won by the Uzbekistan national team has reached eight:
- 3 gold;
- 4 silver;
- 1 bronze.
It is worth noting that earlier, team member Yoqutxon Kholbekova won the gold medal in the women’s T12 long jump event with a result of 5.54 meters, leaving all her rivals behind.
