Obid Khakimov appointed Deputy Advisor to the President on Economic Policy

Obid Orzikulovich Khakimov has been appointed Deputy Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Economic Policy and Director of the Center for Economic Research and Reforms. The appointment was announced by Presidential Spokesperson Sherzod Asadov.
In connection with his new role, Khakimov was relieved of his previous duties as Deputy Advisor to the President on the Development of Economic Sectors, Implementation of Investment and Foreign Trade Policy, and as Director of the Center for Economic Research and Reforms under the Presidential Administration.
Khakimov was born in 1977 in Termez. He graduated from the Tashkent Financial Institute in 1998, from Vanderbilt University (USA) in 2000, and from Middle Tennessee State University (USA) in 2006.
Earlier in his career, he served as Vice-Rector for Economics at Westminster International University in Tashkent and as Vice-Rector at the Academy of Public Administration.
In 2017–2018, Khakimov headed the sector within the Presidential Administration responsible for the protection of citizens’ rights, control, and coordination of work with appeals from individuals and legal entities.
It should be noted that Galina Karimovna Saidova was also recently appointed Deputy Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Economic Policy.
